COLOR OF CHANGE PAC ISSUES THE FOLLOWING STATEMENT FOLLOWING THE ANNOUNCEMENT OF JD VANCE AS FORMER PRESIDENT TRUMP VICE PRESIDENT NOMINEE

 

NATIONAL – Former President Donald Trump announced Senator J.D. Vance as his Vice Presidential nominee for the upcoming 2024 election. Color Of Change PAC issued the following statement from Executive Director Jamarr Brown: 

“It is of no surprise that Donald Trump selected JD Vance as his running mate. He is a first-year senator and will only serve as a rubber stamp for Trump and his extremist allies’ agenda. This decision points to everything wrong with the Republican Party’s moral compass and platform. In Ohio, he advocated for a total abortion ban, forcing women across the state to maintain pregnancies, even in cases of rape and incest. Voters in his own home state overwhelmingly voted to enshrine abortion access into the state’s Constitution. As Senator, he continues to vote against life-saving abortion access and IVF protections. He went so far as to say women should stay in violent marriages with their abusers. JD Vance also subscribes to racist, white supremacist ideologies, such as the “Great Replacement Theory,” and would support Donald Trump and Project 2025’s mission to eliminate DEI programs. 

JD Vance is unqualified to serve as Vice President of the United States. With his harmful and divisive rhetoric, he does not represent the values of voters on the issues that matter most. After referring to Donald Trump as “America’s Hitler,” he is now aligning with him to maintain power. He is an opportunistic candidate who only cares about his political gain. Our voters deserve better than Donald Trump and JD Vance, where Black people and communities would be under attack.

Over the next 113 days until the general election, Color of Change PAC will organize to educate voters on what is at stake in this election – including the threat of Project 2025 – and mobilize voters to the polls on and before November 5.”
