National racial justice organization welcomes nationally recognized legal expert and former DOJ Senior Counsel for Racial Justice and Equity to lead legal strategy, risk management, and compliance
NEW YORK, NY — Color Of Change, the nation’s largest online racial justice organization, announced today that Linda A. Seabrook will join the organization as General Counsel, serving as its chief legal officer and in-house legal lead. Her leadership comes at a critical time as civil rights organizations face escalating legal, political, and institutional attacks, and as Color Of Change continues to organize millions of members to demand accountability from corporations, government actors, media institutions, and technology platforms.
In this role, Ms. Seabrook will guide Color Of Change’s legal strategy, risk management, and compliance across the organization’s operations and affiliated entities. She will play a central role in shaping how the organization advances bold advocacy, protects its people, manages institutional risk, and holds the line on its mission to build power for Black communities.
“Linda’s arrival reflects where Color Of Change is headed. As we deepen our work holding corporations, government, and platforms accountable, we need a legal leader of her caliber inside the organization. She brings two decades of experience at the highest levels of civil rights and workplace equity law, and she shares our conviction that legal strategy is part of how power gets built.”
Linda joins Color Of Change at a moment of growth, as we expand our capacity to hold corporations, government, and platforms accountable,” said Nadine Smith, president and CEO of Color Of Change. “She brings two decades of experience at the highest levels of civil rights and workplace equity law, including inside the federal government during one of the most consequential periods for racial justice in a generation. As the legal landscape shifts and new threats emerge, from the courts to AI-driven disinformation, Linda’s judgment will be central to how we build power and protect our people.”
Ms. Seabrook brings deep experience as she most recently served as Senior Counsel for Racial Justice and Equity at the U.S. Department of Justice, where she helped shape a grantmaking portfolio of more than $4 billion to expand access and opportunities for funding to historically marginalized communities. She previously served as General Counsel and Director of Workplace Safety & Equity at Futures Without Violence, was an Associate with a top-tier labor and employment law firm, and has served as an attorney for state and local governments.
A nationally recognized expert on sexual harassment prevention and workplace response, Seabrook was one of the leading voices during the #MeToo movement. She emerged as a primary voice on how institutions can move beyond statements toward meaningful structural change. At the Department of Justice, she was the first to hold her role, building it from the ground up and advancing that work through congressional scrutiny and a shifting Supreme Court landscape.
Ms. Seabrook will begin her role at Color Of Change immediately.
